The North Jersey Alumnae Chapter Receives Multiple Community Service Awards.

On April 15, 2016 Lynette Medeiros, Foundation Chair and Amy Skinner, President attended the Annual Hudson Milestones Dinner Dance where they accepted The Hudson Milestones Chandelier Charity Organization of the Year Award. Every Holiday season the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter Adopts a Holiday Family and supplies them with a generous wish list of items. A specific family is chosen based on need.

This annual event is one of the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter’s favorite events. The members gather together and form an assembly line with wrapping paper, tape, scissors, and name tags. Once the line is ready, the volunteers wrap the gifts for hours. It is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding events of the Chapter’s year.

This year’s family was a single mother with two young children who have special needs. The North Jersey Alumnae Chapter provided this family with (7) large bags of toys, clothes, books, DVD’s, and a TV. Upon receiving the items the mother cried for 15 minutes inconsolably in appreciation of the items received. She took comfort and solace in knowing that her children would have something to open on Christmas from “Santa”. Along with receiving the Chandelier Charity Organization of the Year Award the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter also received A United States Congressional Recognition and a Citation from the Office of the Hudson County Executive in New Jersey. The North Jersey Alumnae Chapter was truly honored to receive these recognition's and truly believes that, “To give much is to receive much”.
